In longitudinal studies its common to use surveys to follow over time a group of people (in homes, businesses or schools for example), in order to answer questions of public policy that can not be addressed satisfactorily with surveys made in a single point in time (cross-sectional surveys).

The program of longitudinal studies and surveys has four permanent objectives:

Design and implementation of field experiments.

Our task is to innovate in the design of experimental studies to evaluate the performance of public policies in Mexico to improve their effectiveness.

Relevant research that makes use of longitudinal data.

Our task is to support the methodological design of longitudinal surveys in our country and produce international quality scientific research on priority issues.

Building human capital for the use of longitudinal surveys.

Our task is to create training opportunities on topics where the longitudinal dimension is essential to address public policy issues.
